My, those friend circles are interesting.
You can do this right from the share sheet. "You can do this from right where you are, you don't need to walk over and bump your phone," Federighi teases.
Works on iPhone 5, iPad 4th gen, iPad mini
So, I'm curious how across-the-board AirDrop will be. Could be amazing for events like these.
New camera stuff: live photo filters.
Photos app's been completely revamped to coincide with this. Gone is the endless list of shots. Photos now get broken up into "moments," much like what the company's been doing in iPhoto for years.
Can see shots on based where they are via geotagging. All these are grouped together into a big collection.
Can keep scaling out and see all the photos you've taken by year, which gets some oohs and awws. This mode also shows you some of the interesting locations you were at.
You can preview in this mode by tapping on the screen and scrolling. Federighi pulls up a photo and shows how you can use it to add filters, then share elsewhere.
Browsing photos all the way back by year...scrubbing...feels like a preview for the future of iPhoto.
New: Other people can now share into your iCloud shared photo stream
Now you can stream sharing videos by iCloud too, Federighi says.
That's it for the photos app demo.
Eddy Cue coming up now to talk us through some Siri action.
Siri's voice got cleaner.
Siri's got a new interface. You see a soundwave on the bottom, and the results come up in full screen. She's got a new voice. There's also a male voice. High quality for french, German, and other languages over time.
Siri's getting smarter, Cue says. "Play my last voicemail," or "turn on my bluetooth," or "increase my brightness,"
More with Twitter and Wikipedia, along with Bing search results.
Bing raising some low murmuring here among developers.
new feature: iOS in the car.
(I have a car now, curious about this)
95 percent of cars being sold work with some playback controls for iOS, but we want to take it to a higher level, Cue says. We want to get it on the screen of your car, Cue says.
Maps, Music playback, iMessages, all this stuff is "eyes free" Cue says.
Baked-in Maps, messages, music playback...cars including this integration option in 2014. So, I'm out of luck with my 2012 Honda CRV.
Onto the App Store: you can now search for apps based on how old your kid is.
-Popular near me ; can see apps that are popular in your nearby area.
Honda, Mercedes, Nissan, Ferrari, Infinity, etc. working to get it working better by 2014.
Another new feature: App Store getting automatic updates, which gets a huge round of applause.
Wait...if App Store updates my apps automatically, what will happen to "mistake" updates that say "do not install?"
Finally, videos via iCloud.
